History and Future

Coastal Community Church

Coastal Community Church launched as Ocean City Worship Center on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1991 at Berlin Middle School. After six months, the meeting location was moved to Stephen Decatur High School, where services continued to meet for three years. During these years the church grew to 35 people.

In the fall of 1994, the congregation moved to the Berlin Shopping Center. Within a matter of months the church tripled to nearly 100 on Sunday mornings.

By the Fall of 1995, continued growth prompted another move and church began leasing a storefront building on Route 50. After a year the congregation had doubled again to nearly 200 people.

In 1996, several members of the congregation assisted in renovating the warehouse in behind the storefront building. This allowed for more meeting space, and the continued growth made it necessary to have two services on Sunday morning.

In January 2000, the Lord began directing the congregation towards moving once again to another facility. A capital stewardship campaign was launched to raise funds to make this happen.

In 2005, The Worship Center purchased 25 acres of land just 1/4 mile east of the storefront building with the aspirations of building a church building of their own.

In 2009, a picnic pavilion was built on the new property and preparations for construction on the rest of the property began.

In 2010, a capital campaign named Launching Out began to prepare the land for phase one of our future campus. Over the course of 5 years funds were raised, the property was completely graded, and a storage facility was built.

In 2015, a capital campaign named Get Ready began to finish getting the grounds prepared for construction, purchase building plans, bring electricity and sewer to the property, hire a builder, and begin construction on the new church building.

On Sunday, November 19, 2017, surrounded by our pastors, elders, and congregation we officially broke ground on our new church building.

In early 2018 it was decided that the church would officially change its name to Coastal Community Church when the building project was completed and services began being held there.

Coastal Community Church held its first official service in its new facility on Sunday, February 17, 2019. We are excited for all the good things that are yet to come for our church!
